The highlight of the retreat for me was when, Senator threw the platform open for young people to come and talk about what they do and also inspire others, I can remember walking down to the podium and watching the Senator hand the mic over to me and his encouragement to keep pushing after he heard about my boy child Movement initiative.įrom the time of the retreat until now, I’ve been able to host the second edition of my boys'Ĭonference which had over 989 participants with one of Nigeria’s finest artists and mental health advocate Korede Bello as the guest. Well, that’s a man with so much love for God and humility worthy of emulation. How does God tell someone who has never heard anything about a political party to go join one, and then he joins as a novice and with Gods direction, he emerges winner and then, when he starts enjoying power, God says, he should not contest after his first tenure and he still obeys.
He kept talking about God and how it would have only been God, who brought him to the level at which he is now, I feared God even more. Anyim Pius, I used to think that Politicians can be anything but God-fearing, but listening to Senator that day, my mindset changed. The host of this retreat is a politician, so I just couldn't place my hands on the reason why these books were shared in a retreat like this. What is the connection between these books and this retreat, I asked myself.

Before that, I had already received several books written by outstanding men of God, at the registration stand. When he was recounting his story and his journey into politics, I couldn't believe my ears. One thing that shocked me about the life of Sen. One of the questions Senator asked us was, Five to ten years from now when your mates seat on the corridors of power, in different sectors, organizations and institutions, where would you be? Deep question right?, Sunshine, you won't be left behind, I answered to myself, and so far, I can say to myself that I am really working towards becoming that person. The Senator Anyim Pius Retreat had guest like Otubo Victor, Arumma Oteh, and Senator Anyim come teach us practical life hacks, and after seating in that atmosphere, I was challenged and fired up to do more for my Generation. The major thing this experience did for me, was that it gave my confidence a great boost. Standing right there in front of experts and high-class individuals from different works of life, touched a part of my mindset positively, it made me convince myself that if I can stand before the Senator and this caliber of individuals, I can stand before anyone.
